Happy Independence Day, India! (15 August)

This is India's 59th year of Independence and I thought it appropriate to post this video which brings together a whole host of Indian musicians (some famous, some not so well known) playing the Indian national anthem "Jana Gana Mana" composed by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

I'm so sorry that I've not kept up with your blogging! I should have figured you would do your best to keep us abreast of what has been going on!!! I've so enjoyed your triplog so far! It is nice to know that I'm not the only one that can't resist a book shop. I'm fascinated, because you don't hear about bookshops in other countries very often! Especially in India...though you know they have to be there somewhere!!!

Thanks, Grumpy!

I count myself fortunate to be here for the celebrations! :)

Hi, Melissa!

Thank you for stopping by and for the interest you show in my trip. I have taken a ton of pictures, but none have the magic of the real thing. I'm just not happy with my camera (or maybe it's just a case of the carpenter blaming his tools, lol). Anyway, I will post a few when I return (25 Aug). It's a little difficult getting cyber time where I am right now. WRT Independence Day, yes, there are lots of flag hoisting ceremonies. Cars and two-wheelers proudly display a flag on their vehicles and restaurants specialize in making tri-colored dished (orange, green and white), the three colors of the Indian flag. Will look for some pictures to share.

Hello, Dawn!

So glad you stopped by! There arelots of bookshops in India. This country has a thriving publishing industry with many English and regional language writers. And you're right, wouldn't it be fun to have bloggers from all over the world tell us about their favorite bookstores?
