Happy Diwali! दीवाली

Happy Deepavali to all my Indian friends and to everybody that celebrates this wonderful festival of lights!

How do you plan to celebrate the day? We are going to watch "Om Shanti Om" and "Saawariya" (back-to-back) and then we're going to the temple for the Puja, dance and fireworks! So excited!!!

********
It's raining awards! The wonderful Melody Lee of Melody's Reading Corner has given me the "You're An Amazing Blogger" award. Thank you so much Melody! This blog's amazing only because of all you, dear readers, so thank you all!

I would also like to thank the amazing Sia of the fabulous Indian cooking blog, "Monsoon Spice" for the Thinking Blogger award.

Lotus, Wish you a very Happy Diwali!

So you are going to watch the first shows of Saawariya and Om Shanti Om? Sounds like fun. I don't think any other movie has been promoted so much in the past few months. The trailers look interesting.

I went to a book fair to celebrate Diwali, got a set of Alexander McCall Smith's books for the weekend. Also picked up Climbing the Mango trees, I had wanted to read it ever since I read your review on the book.

And Congratulations on the awards, you are truely an Amazing Blogger!

Just want to take a moment to thank everyone for their good wishes!

@Alice ~ Deepavali is huge in Malaysia too, right?

@Sia ~ THank you my friend! I am so glad we have similar itineraries, great minds think alike! ;)

@Milan ~ Thank you! It is a beautiful festival indeed. We light lots of fireworks around this time but it's raining here like crazy today so not sure it will be dry enough for later. Will visit your blog after Diwali, so glad you're back!

@Nanditha ~ THank you for your sweet wishes. I remember my neighbor and best friend in Bombay used to have oil baths during every big festival. Please enjoy your deepavali and best wishes for the family too!

@Reader ~ You went to a book fair for Diwali! What a perfect way to celebrate! So glad you managed to get more McCall Smith books and yes, I am sure you will enjoy "Climbing the Mango Trees". Wishing you and yours a wonderful Diwali, Reader!

@Sanj ~ Aww, sorry you have to work, but if it's any consolation, I have to work in the early part of the day too! Please give *A* my best and I hope the two of you (and your families) have a very blessed Diwali.

@Parth ~ There appear to be quite a few of us with similar plans. You know what? I am getting cold feet about doing 2 Bollywood movies on the same day...never done it before. I might chicken out! Let me know if you succeed! :)

@Asha ~ You have a wonderful feast planned for Diwali...enjoy...and yes, see you Monday!!! Happy Diwali!

@Chitts ~ It's so nice to have friends over on Diwali. Are you doing all the cooking or will everyone bring something? I miss the "open houses" in India...we always got to taste so many goodies that way! :)

@Id ~ You say the nicest things, thank you!!! I am sure you will have a lot of fun at your friend's party...are they going to be playing cards too? No problem about the delayed response...I know how busy life can get. That was an excellent post btw, it really made me think.

@sasgirl ~ Oh, your parents are sooo lucky! Wish I could have come over to wish you for Diwali in person. I hope you have a beautiful day tomorrow and yes, please let me know when you can bring Alex over for a visit, I am really looking forward to it.

@Beenzzz ~ Wishing the same for you and your family! Enjoy the day with all its festivities and beautiful energy! Happy Diwali Beenzzz!

And we're on the same page when it comes to the movies.

Since you are a hot gal, put your hands in the air, say Oooooom, Shaaanti, OM and enjoy.

We've decorated the home with diwali lights. Tonight we're doing a small puja at home followed by taash with friends :)
Do post movie reviews on both the movies!

@Deepika~ Hi and a very, very happy Diwali to you too! Ok, if it's a toss up between "Saawariya" and "Om Shanti Om", I'm going to have to go with the latter. Have a very fun Diwali, Deepika! *hugs*

@Radha ~ Your home sounds lovely...I will be lighting a few diyas too tomorrow, but let's hope there's no rain. It's been raining here all day today! Enjoy the taash playing, hubby really misses that! Happy, happy Diwali Radha!

I have no idea what the party entails; are cards played at a Diwali party? However, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a great time getting together with friends I haven't seen in a while.

Happy Diwali to you and your loved ones. I do a mini version, light some candles and watch a Hindi movie. I would love to go to the temple, but it is quite far from where I live, so I only get to go on the occasional Sunday, I love it.

Congrats on your award, you are such a lovely sweet deserving gal....

BTW, I love your Diwali lights, how do you make them...I would love to try...

Take care dear friend.

Prayers and Blessing to you...

I haven't sorted out my links yet but once I do, I'll add your blog in.
Thanks for adding on mine.
I'm writing more on books now as my passion for the reading life seems to have been renewed since having returned to Europe.

I hope you had a lovely Diwali. :)

Ted had to work, and Maya had girl scouts, so we didn't get to celebrate this year. :(

I did light some candles, though.

Hey all you good people! Thank you so much for the Diwali wishes. Sorry about the group response, but things have been so hectic post Diwali (you can blame it on my new job!).

@Nix ~ You're more than welcome to join us the next time we go to the movies (especially if it's an SRK one!)
