Blogging Hiatus

It's vacation time and I am off tomorrow so this little blog will go on hiatus until I can find an internet connection in India. Our first stop is the city of London where we plan on being regular tourists, doing all the sight-seeing we possibly can. I have to admit the one-year anniversary of the London subway bombings have left me slightly wary about using the tube. What is it about us humans that make us so apprehensive about something that is highly unlikely to happen and yet carefree about more likely disasters like global warming ??? Is it because global warming doesn't roam around with a backpack?

After London we will be heading for sunny India, more specifically to the garden city of Bangalore. For more on Bangalore, do visit Itinerant's (Shashikiran Mullur) Bangalore Jottings/Files. I will try to blog from Bangalore with pictures, but it will have to wait until I can find that elusive internet connection!

Well, guess it's time to say "au revoir" or see you soon. Have a beautiful summer everyone - I will miss you!

Sorry I couldn't write everyone personally to say à bientôt, but as you may imagine, things have been pretty crazy here.

Dearest Lotus,
There are internet cafes on almost every corner that you turn into, in London.
By the way, security is always top-class and excellent in this European city which is why I feel safe and very well looked-after.
Once I lost my leather handbag and phone (and I was going on about the price of the handbag more then anything else} and the police doted on me. They are very kind people and know their job like the back of their hand.
As for the tube, same old rush, same old grumpy faces, same old lovable buskers. Everything went on as normal after last July. I must have taken the trains, hundreds of times, starting with July 8. Not to worry. London knows how to look after itself beautifully.
Just watch out for your purses. Don't leave anything lying around carelessly. The central shopping streets may be packed with tourists and snatch theives lurk about. Also, handphone thefts are one of the highest crimes in this city. Try not to make yours visible and don't leave it on a table if you stop for coffee. Have lots of fun. Think of the glorious bookshops. I'll miss you.
hugs

Have a fantastic vacation. The weather seems to be great in London right now. Don't worry a bit about the tube; it is very unlikely to happen again. Enjoy every minute of it!

Hi, Suse!

THanks for the encouraging comment. That was an interesting tidbit about the handphones - I hadn't realized that. The good news is that we have internet access in the hotel room so I should be able to get in touch from London. If not, it's probably because I am not as technologically savvy as I would like to believe I am! ;)

THanks, Dorothy and have a good summer!

Hello, Les, thanks for leaving me a comment. I hope so much I will be able to share nice pictures of my hometown with all of you!

Hello, Angela Yes, true, the subways are safe and believe me, I would never have had a negative thought if I hadn't listened to all that news on July 07th! It just brought back all those images. Have a wonderful summer, Angela!

Hi, Melissa...what a sweet thing to say to say...thank you so very much...I miss you, too!

Hi, Lulu!

Sadly, I didn't get to try the Indonesian restaurant in London on my way to India, but will definitely make the effort on my way back. We had a pub lunch instead - a nice meal of Fish and Chips for the girls and Irish Stew for me.

How was Bangalore? Will have to check your blog for the list of restaurants you tried. I wonder if you visited the Sahib,Sultan,Sindh restaurant? I will have to do a post on that soon!
