1st Birthday Celebrations!
I feel like a bad mommy. I've only just realized my blog celebrates its first birthday this month! It's been a fantastic year - I've had the opportunity to read a lot of books and to make a lot of friends. I've been racking my brain for all of 5 mins thinking of how I can celebrate this anniversary and the best I can come up with is a book giveaway for some lucky readers!
So this is what we'll do. Please go to my virtual bookshelf at bookcrossing.com and pick any two "Available" books. Then send me an e-mail with your request. Your name goes in a box and on June 4th, if I pick your name, I will send you any one of the two books you picked. I plan on picking two readers, so, please, send me your entries (via e-mail) and help me celebrate! Thank you, kindly! :)
This is open to anyone regardless of where you live, so do write in with your requests...
UPDATE: Angela and Susan (Italy) are the winners of the book giveaway! Congratulations, ladies!!! Angela wins "Entre Nous: A Woman's Guide to Finding her Inner French Girl" and Susan wins Pat Chapman's "A Taste of the Raj:A Celebration of Anglo-Indian Cookery":".
Thank you to everyone who participated! You made my blog's first anniversary so much fun!!!
I plan on having more book giveaways in the future, so stay tuned.

Congratulations! Happy birthday to your blog!!
Hapy B-day. What a clever way to celebrate. I'm going to Book-crossing right now. I ran across that site a few weeks ago, but I didn't do anything except 'open' a shelf. I need to learn more about it. This will give me a reason. Thanks for the fun.
Happy Birthday, blogger! Such a great idea and how much fun for all of us readers!
Thanks, Dorothy - I do hope you'll pick a book or two. I have extended the date from June 1 to June 4 because I realize a lot of my American friends will be out of town this Memorial weekend.
Thanks, booklogged. Happy to know you're a bookcrosser, too. It's such a fabulous concept, isn't it? Thanks so much for playing! Do let me have your bookcrossing name when you remember. Thanks!
Angela - so glad you're here helping me celebrate. Good luck!
Happy Blog Birthday my dear friend. One wonderful year of reading your posts and reviews. I've had a great time and have bought many of the books you have reviewed. Also thanks for all your continuing help to a Baby Blogger.
Well, here's saying 'Happy Birthday to Lotus Reads'. Sorry by the way, that I have had to go offline unexpectedly for a few days. lots of love
Hi, Beloved!
Thanks for being such a loyal reader of the blog. I know you're still having trouble with your blog, but don't worry, it will sort itself out sooner or later, it always does.
Susan, I missed you! Were you travelling?
Many Happy Returns of the Day, Lotus Reads! May you grow from strength to strength.
I love your idea of celebrating the blog's anniversary. How generous of you to give the gift of books! I've already sent in my request. Here's wishing you many more good books to devour with the hope of receiving more incisive reviews from you.
Thanks and congrats!
Awwwwww, thanks Bhaswati! I have been having so much fun I almost missed noting that my blog was one year old! :)
Hopefully I will be able to post some reviews in the coming week. I have been slacking off in the reading department lately, the weather's been so good I have spending a lot of time working in the yard.
Thank you for playing and good luck! :)
Hi Lotus, no, it was an unexpected crisis that took me away from the usual haunts for awhile.
Happy Birthday to you, Happy birthday to you.....
How sweet of you to give somebody else a gift on your 1 year anniversary!
Happy Blogiversary!!!
So how is life after the birthday?
Thanks, Susan and Janelle!
So nice of you to stop by with anniversary wishes :)
Hi, Suse
I know, I haven't been posting much lately. It must be the heat. It was 41C here yesterday. I never imagined it would be too hot to read, but yesterday was one of those days. I was lethargy personified! :)
Yes, Lotus I understand. Once it's about 34C, the heat gets to me too. I become dizzy sometimes if I'm on the road, feel nauseaus, headachy and immensely tired.
I'm lucky this time round. To be in Malaysia at the moment, when it should be hot, it's actually been raining. We have such terrific thunderstorms in the evenings or nights {they last for just about an hour} but the temperature's dropped and it's miraculously cool these days. But I know how you feel.
Wow @ the thunderstorms, Susan! Do they ever serve as a muse for your poetry?
I notice you have a ghost story up on your blog today. I can't wait to pop over and read it. I'm sure you've done a great job!
Of course you can my friend and Happy Birthday to your blog. : )
I will Pick a book or two.
Yay to Angela and Susan!
Hi Lotus, I can think of a terrific story idea - THE MUMMY WHO GOT THE BIRTHDAY WRONG...
Susan! That's a fantastic idea! Infact, I have to write a children's story for class this week or a children's poem. Maybe I can work with your title? You sure are creative, thanks! :)
Yes, Lotus, run with it. You have own experience as a mum in real life to supplement a realisitc mummy plot. The rush and swing of what a birthday party is all about.
And this will make a truly original and light-hearted piece. Just the title alone will bring on the smiles.
love
Your site is on top of my favourites - Great work I like it.
